It’s more than just another day off, a day to go shopping or enjoy a barbecue.

Take a moment to remember our fallen heroes.

As a veteran myself, I salute those who have fallen and those who are still in harm’s way today.

Here’s something that’ll throw some serious cold water on Obama’s plans to put Gitmo terrorists into our prisons here in the U.S. It seems the prisons are fertile breeding grounds for would-be terrorists. I’ll let Michelle Malkin explain:

As I’ve reported previously, U.S. Bureau of Prison reports have warned for years that our civilian detention facilities are major breeding grounds for Islamic terrorists. There are still not enough legitimately trained and screened Muslim religious leaders to counsel an estimated 9,000 U.S. prison inmates who demand Islamic services. Under the Bush administration, the federal prison bureaucracy had no policy in place to screen out extremist, violence-advocating Islamic chaplains; failed to properly screen the many contractors and volunteers who help provide religious services to Islamic inmates; and shied away from religious profiling.

Bush isn’t off the hook, as you can see. But just as with spending, Obummer’s answer to something Bush screwed up is to make it worse.

Islam day in Hawaii?

Yes, according to Michelle Malkin:

Hawaii’s state Senate overwhelmingly approved a bill Wednesday to celebrate “Islam Day” _ over the objections of a few lawmakers who said they didn’t want to honor a religion connected to Sept. 11, 2001.

Oh yeah, and what day did they pick? September 24–13 days after September 11. Nice.

BTW, as Michelle Malkin noted, there’s no “Christianity Day” in Hawaii. Surprising, isn’t it?

One of the Air Force One jets (technically, there’s a small fleet at his disposal but only the plane he is riding on at the moment is called Air Force one and he wasn’t on this one) buzzed lower Manhattan today. Yeah, you know, near where that little incident known as 9/11 took place. And only a handful of people knew about it.

Michelle Malkin notes a story today about that rocket scientist of a DHS director we have, Janet Napolitano, who now has in effect blamed the Canadians for allowing the 9/11 terrorists to enter the U.S.:

“Nonetheless, to the extent that terrorists have come into our country or suspected or known terrorists have entered our country across a border, it’s been across the Canadian border. There are real issues there.”

Kind of reminds me of something…

Texas to secede?

None other than Texas Governor Rick Perry today alluded to secession while at a tea party in Austin:

Perry called his supporters patriots. Later, answering news reporters’ questions, Perry suggested Texans might at some point get so fed up they would want to secede from the union, though he said he sees no reason why Texas should do that.

“There’s a lot of different scenarios,” Perry said. “We’ve got a great union. There’s absolutely no reason to dissolve it. But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, you know, who knows what might come out of that. But Texas is a very unique place, and we’re a pretty independent lot to boot.”

Holy moley! I’m suddenly thinking about moving to Texas…

Tax Day Tea Parties plus Recovery.gov parody

Today is the big day for the Tea Party movement, and of course, the liberals’ favorite day (well, except for tax cheat Tim Geithner). According to Michelle Malkin, 800 tea party protests are taking place across the country. Michelle has the best coverage anyway, with pics and video too, so you should check out her blog. Expect the lamestream media to downplay and mischaracterize the whole thing, as much as they can get away with, anyway.
