About Me

I’m a 40-something proud American of Cuban descent. I’m very happily married, with two dogs and no kids (yet ;-)). We live in Florida.

I have a day job so I run this and other blogs and sites on what little spare time I have. Also, I served proudly in the U.S. Army under Ronald Reagan, the best president in my lifetime. Needless to say, I’m a conservative Republican.

Why “The Underground Conservative?”

I worked in an office a couple of years ago, right before the 2004 election, where the liberals were quite open and unabashed about their political opinions and choices. This would include at least one member of senior management, who openly displayed materials with vulgar references to our President’s name in the office.

Those of us who were conservative Republicans did not feel comfortable in this atmosphere (and I’m including my direct boss, whose husband–a Marine Iraq war veteran–ran for state office as a Republican).

So we conservatives kept to each other, sort of as an underground movement within the office. And that’s where the name of this website comes from.
