UPDATE: Grodner=Guilty!

The military-hating lawyer I blogged about in yesterday’s post, Jay Grodner, had his day in court today and here’s what happened according to a reader at Michell Malkin’s blog:

Long story short, he has to pay $600 to a Semper Fi Fund (Marine [Corps] fund for the wounded) and he has to report for Social Services probation once per month for a year. Judge told him if he screws up and misses any he will be arrested and will serve 364 days in jail! He told Grodner that the reason the courtroom was so full was because Sgt. McNulty belongs to The Band of Brothers and this is what he can expect when he mistreats a Marine (not his exact words but the same meaning)…

Oh yeah, and Grodner got to court late–and was promptly arrested on the judge’s orders!

According to a commenter at Blackfive–the military blog that first brought this story to the world’s attention–the judge in the case is a former Marine. Tough luck for you, Grodner.

Oorah, Sgt. McNulty!

UPDATE

John Kass of the Chicago Tribune once again comes through:

Grodner was late to court for the second time in the case. Grodner called Assistant State’s Attorney Patrick Kelly, (Marine Corps/Vietnam 1969-1972), informing Kelly that he would be late to court.

“He wanted to avoid the media,” Kelly said Friday. “So he’s coming a half hour late.”

“I don’t run my courtroom that way!” responded Judge William O’Malley, ordering Grodner be arrested and held on $20,000 bail when he arrived.

Oh, but there’s more:

Grodner told me he’d describe himself as a “radical liberal” who’s ready to leave Chicago now with all this negative publicity and move to the south of France and do some traveling.

Goodbye and good freaking riddance to you, Grodner. Do us all a favor and don’t bother coming back.

The Underground Conservative | Anti-military lawyer found guilty!

An anti-military lawyer who had keyed the car of a Marine about to be deployed to Iraq was found guilty today by an Illinois judge. The judge–a former Marine–put lawyer Jay Grodner on probation for a year. And the judge made Grodner donate $600 to …
